This synthetic rope sling has a two-layer structure. The inner layer material is high-molecular polyethylene fiber (HMPE), with a melting point of 135°C, and the outer layer is polyester fiber, with a melting point of 265°C. Such rope sling is extremely strong, with excellent abrasion resistance, a low elongation rate, less than 7% elongation, and a breaking elongation rate of 4%. It maintains stable performance in both dry and wet conditions, with consistent strength in both states. The hydrophobic nature of the outer polyester material prevents the rope from absorbing water. HMPE rope sling does not rotate or twist, has a long working life, is easy to operate, and is convenient for carrying and storage. It also has some UV resistance. Therefore, synthetic rope sling is suitable for lifting and towing operations in aerospace, fishing, and marine engineering.
Here are some special properties of Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene fiber (UHMWPE)
(1) High specific strength and high specific modulus. The specific strength is more than ten times that of steel wire of the same cross-section, and the specific modulus is second only to ultra-grade carbon fiber.
(2) Low fiber density, with a density of 0.97 g/cm³, it can float on water and can extend infinitely in water.
(3) Low breaking elongation and high breaking energy, with strong energy absorption capabilities, thus possessing outstanding impact resistance and cut resistance.
(4) Resistance to ultraviolet radiation, protection against neutrons and gamma rays, high specific energy absorption, low dielectric constant, and high electromagnetic wave transmission rate.
(5) Resistance to chemical corrosion, excellent wear resistance, and a long flexural life.
