What’s the difference between tow straps and recovery straps??

Tow straps and recovery straps have the similar usage, but they are quite different. Recovery straps and tow straps are made by different materials for different usage. Usually the recovery straps are produced by flexible nylon while the tow straps are made by polyester.

The strength and abrasion resistance of nylon recovery straps are excellent, and it is very durable. The nylon recovery rope is thin, soft and highly elastic, which can absorb shock and vibration, avoid affecting the vehicle, and at the same time reduce damage to the vehicle. The disadvantage of nylon rescue belts is that nylon is highly hygroscopic and easily absorbs water, resulting in a decrease in tensile strength, and is also prone to mold and rot.

Polyester tow strap is also called Terylene rope. It is usually more wear-resistant than nylon rope and is relatively easy to maintain. Polyester rope has strong acid and alkali resistance, so it has relatively high requirements for chemical corrosion properties. It is not easy to deform and can maintain the shape of the rope. However, it is less elastic and not as strong in shock absorption and tensile strength as nylon straps.

The recovery strap that helps the car pull out of trouble needs to have a certain degree of elasticity, because before the car is stressed, it will be buffered by the elastic stretch of the tow rope, thus protecting the car well. The wire rope sling is a static rope without any elasticity. If the wire rope sling is forcibly used to help the vehicle escape, there will be no buffering effect at the moment the car is pulled, and it is easy to cause serious damage. Therefore, can the wire rope sling be used? The towing rope is mainly determined according to the usage scenario.

Usually the design of tow straps is simple, so the price of tow straps is less expensive. Howevery, if you want to spend less time and energy to rescue your vehice on the road, it is wise to buy the recovery straps which have better flexiblity. Off-road recovery should be your first saftey priority. So it is imporatant to prepare the high quality recovery straps beforehand.
