Everyone knows that ensuring safety in production has always been the core principle of DMSLING's product sales! So, what precautions should be taken when using ratchet tie-down straps? Let DMSLING help you with the answers, as detailed below:
ratchet tie-down, ratchet tie down straps, lashing strap
Firstly
, when selecting and using ratchet tie-down straps, one must consider the required lashing force, the type of use, and the nature of the load to be secured. The size, shape, and weight of the cargo determine the correct choice, and factors such as the intended use, transportation environment, and type of cargo should also be taken into account. For stability reasons, at least two ratchet tie-down straps are required for straight lashing, and two pairs of tie-down straps are needed for diagonal lashing.

Secondly, the chosen ratchet tie-down strap must be both robust and sufficiently long for the intended use, with the correct length based on the type of lashing. Good lashing practices should always be considered: the installation and removal of tie-down straps should be planned before the journey begins. For longer trips, partial unloading should be considered. The number of tie-down straps should be calculated according to the European standard EN 12195-2:2000. Only tie-down systems labeled with STF should be used for securing and tightening.

Thirdly, due to different behaviors and length changes under load, different lashing tools (such as lashing chains and straps made of synthetic fibers) should not be used for lashing the same load. When using additional fittings and lashing devices, ensure they match the ratchet tie-down straps.

Fourthly, during use, flat hooks or double hooks must be securely attached to the hook base with their entire width.

Fifthly, before releasing the tie-down straps, ensure that the cargo is still secure even without the restraints, and it does not pose a risk to the unloader by falling. If necessary, slings intended for further transport should be attached to the load beforehand to prevent tilting or dropping. This also applies if tensioning elements are used to enable safe removal.

Sixthly, before unloading begins, the lashings must be released to such an extent that the cargo is free to stand.

Seventhly, during loading and unloading, care must be taken to avoid the proximity of any low-hanging overhead wires.
