What Are the Daily Maintenance for A Tie-Down Strap?

What are the daily maintenance procedures for a ratchet tie down strao? There are some key points you have to know. Let DMSLING tell you as following:
tie-down strap, ratchet tie-down, ratchet tie down straps

1. The materials from which lashing straps are made have varying degrees of resistance to chemical attack. The manufacturer's or supplier's instructions should be followed if the lashings are likely to be exposed to chemicals. It should be borne in mind that the effects of chemical influence increase with rising temperatures. The resistance of synthetic fibers to chemical agents is summarized below: Polyester is resistant to mineral acids but is attacked by alkali. Harmless acid or alkali solutions can become so concentrated by evaporation that they cause damage. Contaminated lashings shall be immediately taken out of service, rinsed in cold water, and air dried.

2. Ratchet tie down straps complying with this part of European Standard EN 12195 are suitable for use in the following temperature ranges: 40°C to + 120 °C for polyester (PES). These temperature ranges may change depending on the chemical environment. In this case, the recommendations of the manufacturer or supplier should be obtained. A change in ambient temperature during transportation may affect the force in the webbing. The lashing force should be checked after entering warm regions.

3. Ratchet tie down straps shall be taken out of service or returned to the manufacturer for repair if they show signs of damage. The following items are to be considered as signs of damage: For straps (to be taken out of service): cracks, cuts, indentations and breaks in load-bearing fibers and seams, deformations due to the effects of heat; For end fittings and tensioning elements: Deformations, cracks, strong signs of wear and corrosion. Only ratchet tie down straps that have labels identifying them may be repaired. If accidental contact with chemicals occurs, the lashing strap must be taken out of service and the manufacturer or supplier must be consulted.

4. Webbings or straps shall be protected from friction and abrasion and from damage caused by loads with sharp edges by using protective covers and/or edge protectors.

5. Ratchet tie down straps must not be overloaded: the maximum hand force of 500N (50 daN on label; 1 daN .1 kg) may only be applied with one hand. No mechanical aids such as rods or levers, etc. may be used unless they are part of the tensioning element.

6. Care must be taken to ensure that the ratchet tie down strap is not damaged by the edges of the load to which it is attached. Regular visual inspection before and after each use is recommended.

7. Damage to labels shall be prevented by keeping them away from the edges of the load and, if possible, from the load.

8. Knotted and twisted ratchet tie down straps must not be used.

9. Only legibly marked and labeled ratchet tie down straps produced by DMSLING shall be used.
